White Summer Dresses

I'm going to a few weddings this summer and started dress shopping, I'm a plus-size teen and pretty opinionated about what I wear (which makes the situation all the more difficult) Anyways, I tried on a dress at DressBarn which looked really great on me, the only thing is there are a lot of flowers and things on the skirt which I think look a little "grandma-esque." I absolutely HATE them; would pulling them out either ruin it or cause the dress to look, well...unprofessional? I would want to do something to jazz it up a little should I actually remove them, maybe rhinestones or some other "bling." I haven't bought it yet, but I'm a little depressed because what I loved were the pleats, the high waist, and the full skirt which I haven't been able to find anywhere else =(
