Mini Tunic Dress

What shoes go w/ a mini tunic dress about 3 inches above the knee? peep toe? strappy? i dont know whats best!?
It is a black dress with some maroon and gold design ont he bottom and it is short and i was thinking strappy shoes but I am not sure since I have to go buy the shoes without my dress since it is at the tailor..would peep toe work? or any other kind? please be as specific as possible I do not want any shoes too expensive, links would be great!
i think a peep toe shoe would really pop the dress
