Hey. I've made the powerpoint presentation for my class for our year assembly.
We talk about topics such as:
Spring Equinox/March Equinox
Spring
World Silent Day (which involves reducing carbon dioxide emissions to stop natural distaters)
Natural Disasters and the Japan Earthquake
World Water Day (about clean water etc, and also again about Japan)
&& World Downs Syndrome Day.
Also my teacher is running a half marathon to raise money for Downs Syndrome Association.

I was thinking "Born this way" by Lady Gaga. But it has to be something popular(ish) and appropriate for 14-16 year olds.
Another year did an assembly on World Womens Day and Inspirational women and used Invincible by Kelly Rowland/Tinie Tempah.

The only topic I can find from these is probably Human Rights or something or Awareness against natural disasters and the down syndrome.
